Non Executive Director at CUK, Chris was trained as a Merchant Navy deck officer, and served with the prestigious Port Line. After spending many years in developing African countries, Chris returned to the UK and set about developing new marine projects. He was asked to Chair the Southwest Business Forum to represent marine business in southwest UK.
He is one of very few people in the United Kingdom with a track record of creating brand new ferry routes and is currently pursuing a number of ground-breaking initiatives, working in conjunction with, among others, Plymouth University. Projects range from new cruise/ferry routes, to reducing the minimum size of intermodal unitisation for smaller exporters.
He has been instrumental in inaugurating specialist groups covering trade between China, Africa and UK, a Maritime and Waterborne Innovation Group, and Food and Drink and Supply Chain Groups. Chris is a fluent French and Portuguese speaker, and also has some knowledge of other languages. He also writes articles for various magazines, mainly, but not exclusively, in Malawi.
